The critical mass for the unconfined vapour cloud explosion of compressed and liquid hydrogen

چکیده
The (unconfined) vapour cloud explosion (VCE) is a dramatic phenomenon that generates severe pressure wave with high potential to damage assets and produce injuries in the far field. This definition applies also hydrogen. Nevertheless, no clear tools methodology have been so developed tested for this highly reactive gas, even advanced numerical simulations lack validation suffer from large uncertainties. In view, comprehension of physic which subtends specific case hydrogen still central issue. paper revises some most adopted theories on VCE based classical acoustic theory models propagation provides consequence-based, threshold (minimum) value critical mass m f crit 4.0 kg $$ {m}_f^{\mathrm{crit}}\left(4.0\ \mathrm{kg}\right) needed—at stoichiometric concentration air—for behave as VCE. To regard, any non-stoichiometric air or lower amount would decrease either flame Mach number M {M}_{\mathrm{f}} total energy, thus resulting negligible overpressure. sense, effects buoyancy, diffusivity, weather conditions dispersion should be taken into account. results are valid compressed cryogenic liquid tanks can sake distinction between flash fire VCE; hazard analysis production storage; more general risk assessment systems.

This work is concerned with the consequence analysis of vapour cloud explosion (VCE) due to accidental release of hydrogen (H2) from the hydrogen holder in a chloralkali plant. Hydrogen is highly flammable if released accidentally may lead to flash fire or VCE which has the potential to damage people, equipment and facilities in the vicinity of the hydrogen holder. The equivalent TNT, TNO multi...

?it is of utmost priority for an experienced teacher to train the mind of the students, and enable them to think critically and correctly. the most important question here is that how to develop such a crucial ability? this study examines a new way to the development of critical thinking utilizing critical discourse analytical tools. to attain this goal, two classes of senior english la...
Minimising Uncertainty in Vapour Cloud Explosion Modelling
There have been significant advances in consequence modelling of releases of hazardous materials in the last decade, but the use of simple models for predicting overpressures from vapour cloud explosions (VCEs) continues to elude safety practitioners. The TNO multi-energy model has generally been regarded as the best model available to date, for a rapid assessment of explosion overpressures and...
